I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in. ~John Muir, 1913 Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~Kahlil Gibran

 | Thinking of you and hoping that life is good. |
 | I've kind of lost track of you, but I think you're back in the states...anyway, I hope you're safe and your friends back in Japan are safe too. |
 | Ooohhh I read that one. Yeeeah... it's ok for sure - what I like to call a "beach read" ;o) Great for the moment but not terrible realistic or stimulating. Not a terrible waste of time either - so I'd consider it worth it.
Though, uh, those folks who say that's "realistic" as far as Navy life goes are full of ba-hooey, otherwise there'd be seven thousand relocation assistants on each base, eh? ;o) They actually do have relocation assistants that can give you info on the area, schools, etc though they're not necessarily all in one spot though there is one source who can help you get all the info you need - the command ombudsman
I happened to be an ombudsman when reading this book and I think THAT part actually pissed me off a bit. "Relocation assistant my ASS" I thought. *laughs I know it was sposed to be for a civilian, but geeeez-o-pete it was crazy to me at the time.
I may hafta check the book out again at the library to read it again with a different perspective.
:o) |
 | "The ocean between us" by Susan Wiggs. Not the best book I have ever read, but it whiled away the time on buses and metros : ) |
 | OooooOOooooh cool! Lemme know the title and I'll hafta see if I can find it!!! Then I can tell ya what's cool and what's liiiies ;oD |
 | I've just finished a book about a naval family in Whidby (sp?). All the way through, I found myself thinking of you and wondering how it measures up with your life : ) |
  | I like it... You might like it too! | Jan 2, 2010 |
Avatar... I laughed, I gasped, I leaked a bit (which was a bit of a pain, considering the 3D glasses! Which, for those who tend to think of bodily functions involving the bathroom, means I was tearing up. *sniffle sniffle, eye dab, eye dab* even.)... more
